Care
For several months I have accompanied a woman from Berlin who takes care for her critically ill mother. The pictures are telling a story that starts with a photograph of the daugther's childhood and ends at the bedside of the mother. |

Italian artists in Berlin,
Dynamic of the New
Do you know the land where the lemon trees bloom...? For many Germans, this line from Goethe still remains a metaphor of the search for the unknown, the yearning for the new, of Italy itself. Artists have always tried to break the bonds that could be an obstacle to their creativity. To do so, they have followed the most unusual paths. Goethe, for instance, fled to Italy: the land where the lemon trees bloom. Today, many Italian artists go to Berlin, where a touchable sense of liberation seems to satisfy their thirst for creativity. Berlin has a lot to offer. Suspended for a long time between clashing worlds, between the past and the present, Berlin is today the centre of cultural and physical places where it is possible to experience that subtle line between the yearning for the new and the already known. History has reversed its course: Berlin has become today what once Italy was. In Goethe’s time Italy was a place to visit and discover. That place for many Italians has now become Berlin: the yearning for the new. |
